Destiny: Xur weapons, gear, and location, January 29 - 31. Thunderlord!

Destiny's weekend merchant and noted collector of china equine minatures, Xur, is back in the Tower. He's down by the Hangar recreation area this week, chain-smoking high quality imported cigars and practicing his mojito mixing. What’s he selling? Is any of it any good? And how can you get that suspicious stain out of the carpet before the vicar comes round for tea? Literally some of these questions will be answered below.

  • Empyrean Bellicose (Exotic Titan Helmet) - 13 Strange Coins
  • Skyburners Annex (Exotic Hunter Helmet) - 13 Strange Coins
  • Alchemist’s Raiment (Exotic Warlock Chest Armour) - 13 Strange Coins
  • Legacy Chest Armour Engram - 29 Strange Coins
  • Thunderlord (Exotic Machine Gun) - 17 Strange Coins
  • Three of Coins - 7 Strange Coins
  • Glass Needle - 3 Strange Coins

If you’re hankering after a meaty Exotic machine gun, then buy Thunderlord without hestitation. On the ‘slower, harder htting’ end of the Destiny MG spectrum, it’s also rather brutal and pretty damn accurate, thanks to its precision-and-speed boosting Lightning Rounds perk, Feeding Frenzy for fast reloads, and the option of Perfect Balance. Its Arc polarity also means that it eats through blue shields, making it a fantastic, rangy boss-killer, as well as a powerful solution for standard PvE and PvP. Oh, and sometimes it makes its target explode, so there’s that too.

As for the armour? It’s not bad this week. The Emperean Bellicose is nice, imparting Titans with a version of the Warlock’s anti-gravity Angel of Light perk, which is great for literally getting the jump of shielded enemies. Phalanxes can’t do anything when you’re floating above their heads, firing a shotgun straight down. The Skyburners Annex is a good momentum-building helmet for Heavy Weapon specialists, imparting extra orbs for Heavy kills, and then converting those orbs into Special ammo when you’re Super’s fully charged.

And the Alchemist’s Rainments, while they initially look to be entirely crap given their seeming focus on Glimmer collection, are capable of some powerful and really interesting stuff, if you’re willing to put the work into creating a couple of special, custom builds for them.

As ever, Xur will be in the Tower until 10am UK / 2am PT on Sunday, at which point he'll vanish for another week.
