This guide should work with both versions (Regular and Collector's Edition). I am a Founder's Account Player and will be on both the online and offline versions of the game. As of this writing in order to update your Single Player game you can either load the Launcher (window that shows single and multiplayer selection) and click "Updates Available". The first time you ever go on you will update the launcher to a new larger launcher. You may then be sent to the Hellgate: London websites new Patches section to see the patch notes and manually download the patch. Another way to get the patches updated is to click "Updates Available" a second time and select Launcher (always required when available), single player, and multiplayer. You must go to the website and manually download the Stone Henge Patch 1.0 in order to continue receiving automatic updates for multiplayer. Due to the FAQ being really long, it is best to use the CTRL+F feature to search the Table of Contents to get to the section you want faster. Continue through the streets to locate the Templar Seraph at the square and take down all the Zombies in the area. Talk to him and he tells you that you must find Dr. Fawkes and talk to Lann and give him Fawkes' Communique. You must head to Covent Garden Station. Head over to talk to Murmur and he will tell you some advice to what you are about to go up against. Head out through the portal that was previously locked and you will immediatly receive a transmission from a Templar out in the field. He tries to tell you that there was something that came out and took Fawkes in to the Rift. Navigate through the city as you kill off the demons and close to the back of the instance you will locate your first Hellrift. Enter the Hellrift and a level 5 Boss, Shulgoth, will run up the stairs to attack you. Try to stay on the top as there are a lot of Imps below. He can not go through the Hellrift so you can use that as a make-shift wall. He will swing at you with his large claw, getting it stuck in to the ground. Use this as an opportunity to attack. Watch out for his flame breathe as this can torch you fast. Kill off the boss and then work on the Imps and possibly a range of other monsters. Once they are all killed just work your way to the structure and search the body of Dr. Fawkes for his remains and head back to Brandon Lann in the station for your reward. ******************************************************************************* 3.01.03.02 - Test Monkey ******************************************************************************* Prerequisite Quest: Hell's Yard Type of Quest: Use Item Receive Quest From: Brandon Lann Receive Reward From: Brandon Lann Quest Destination: British Museum Level Required: 6 Reward: None I recommend you level up to at least level 9 or 10 for this quest. Talk to Brandon Lann and he will tell you that the information you brought back from Fawkes' remains has now been gathered about two technologies. Far Sight which identifies active Hellrifts and The Device. Take the Fawkes Device and talk to the Templar Guard next to the Wanted Poster for a little more information on your mission. Now head around the corner and up the stairs to enter Bloomsbury. Navigate your way through Bloomsbury and you will eventually locate the portal leading to the British Museum. Head up the stairs and there will be a high percentage chance that some demons will teleport in to the room as you reach the first landing. Kill them all and continue up the stairs, once you reach the top head up the right set of stairs and start clearing out the large room of from the demons. Be careful as they will spawn twelve Fellbore at a time instead of the standard three at a time per portal. Clear out all the side rooms full of Fellbore that spawn through portals, the Tormentors, and the flying demons. Eventually you will come across the Hellrift, you don't have to kill all the demons in the area for it to show up but it is recommended. Go in to the Hellrift and you will have to face a level 6 Boss named Sekworm. He has the ability to recharge his health so whenever you can, quickly take down the Imp Troopers and Imp Snipers around the area so they don't help him take down your health for long. Once the Imps are taken care of focus on Sekworm by using weapons that can stun so you can take his life down fast. Once you have taken everyone down head to the structure and place Fawkes Device on the pedestal to activate a bomb that will destroy the Hellrift. Run back through the Hellrift to Earth as the place starts to explode. As you come out of the Hellrift the statues that were holding the swords will start to live. You must now survive against these level 6 demons. Kill the Emperor demon and all the others will die with him, this is a nice spot to kill off demon statues for some extra XP if you aren't having any trouble against them. Once the battle is over you will be teleported to a long room with a Sage. Talk to her and start a new quest. ******************************************************************************* 3.01.03.03 - Truth Spoken ******************************************************************************* Prerequisite Quest: Survive the Test Monkey quest Type of Quest: Interact with Character Receive Quest From: A Sage Receive Reward From: Brandon Lann Quest Destination: Covent Garden Station Level Required: 6 Reward: 3,100 XP Watch the cut scene and then head through the portal behind you once the game tells you to head back to Covent Garden Station. Extras ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 4.01 - Help Find the Cow Level +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Even though there may not be a "Cow Level" in this game I am going to add this section for fun as we all play Hellgate: London. If you feel like contributing to help look for the "Cow Level" please feel free to email me anything you possibly find in the hopes that the "Cow Level" exists at brokaliv@yahoo.com \\\\\\\\\\\\ \\STEP ONE\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\ Source - Bill Roper Activate the hidden gem in the Character Creation screen. When you create a new character look in the top right of the gray information box to see a diamond gem grayed out. You can click this diamond and change it to red which makes purple acidic fog go at the feet of your character. Keep clicking the diamond until it randomly changes to a pentagram. Source - Erich Schaefer Start your new character and run through the tutorial level. This time when you talk to Murmur he will say "There are more secrets when you have me divulge this time" Now talk to the boy for an optional quest "A Leg Up" and keep the wooden leg he gives you. It will be used later just like in Diablo 2 to combine it with some other item(s). /////////////////////////////////////////////// //COLLECTED INFORMATION - Diablo Style Theory// /////////////////////////////////////////////// Searching the peg leg itself you will find the number "20" on it. Referring back to the days of Diablo 2 along with the information that Erich Schaefer has shared you most likely have to combine Wirt's Peg Leg with another item. This peg leg is just like Wirt's from Diablo 2 where you had to combine a whole tome of town scrolls to open the portal. With this information you can think of the tome of town scrolls and how it held a max of "20" town scrolls inside. This "20" could very well be the same "20" referenced to the number on Wart's Peg Leg in Hellgate: London. You can't create any kind of tome/books to hold items but you can certainly stack "20" Personal Relocation Device's (PRD's) which are the same thing as town scrolls to eachother. Most likely you will need 20 PRD's along with Wart's Peg Leg. Also when looking at the description of the Wart's Peg Leg you will see "Is this going to cost me 50 palladium?". The description and it only stating 50 palladium could this mean you only need 1 PRD? Or is it just a clue to help you look for a certain item (being the PRD) in the store? In Diablo 1 you had to pay Wirt 50 Gold to see the items he had, perhaps you have to pay 50 Palladium for information or an item. The last part to the formula is "The Horadric Cube"; where is an item like this in Hellgate: London? Soon a new item called "The Transmogrifier" will be added to the game which transforms the junk you put in it and turns it into something new and wonderful. When you discover a new formula, it will be automatically stored in a special recipe list. The Transmogrifier seems to be a Subscriber Item only. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 4.02 - Templar +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ sources: http://www.hellgatelondon.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knights_Templar Hellgate: London's Templar are based off followers of the ancient rituals and rites of the Knights Templar, an order who has writings told of demonic invasion centuries ago. The order, since the Middle Ages, has been prepared for the apocolypse and has trained in holy magic as well as organizing their followers against the forces of hell. The True believers, the keepers of the faith, and the destroyers of all evil. Both organized and highly motivated, with centuries of training and preparations against fighting the demons from hell. The Knights Templar was a military order that was around in the Middle Ages. It was originally created after the first Christian Crusades in the 11th century AD. There job was to keep the European Christians safe while en route to the holy land of Jerusalem after it fell to Christian forces. Eventually through the years they were endorsed by the Christian Church and therefore became fairly powerful in medieval Europe in the mid-12th century. The Templar had both military power and huge financial wealth throughout Christendom. Having such wealth made them have powerful enemies, which included King Philip IV of France and Pope Clement V. Around the early 14th century, Pope Clement V took down the order with force, usually by arresting Templar members and torturing them into confessions, and ending it by burning them at the stake. Even after these acts the Templar still live on to this day thanks to their secretive initiation ceremonies and practices along with other aspects. There are rumors that the Knights Templar had both the opportunity and the motive to secretly hide one of Christendom's most cherished holy artifacts, the Holy Grail. More than one historian has stated that the Templar was the final keeper of the Holy Grail and discovering where they hid it could lead people today to finding it. Or it just might be a myth.... These highly trained fighters come in two classes, Guardians and Blademasters. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 4.02.01 - Guardian <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< The Guardian is used mainly for melee fighting over ranged attacks, even though they tend to do less damage than the others in melee. Instead they can use various auras available to them as you go through the game. This gives the Guardian a nice range of offensive and defensive advantages that add to their power. +++++++++++++++++++ +Guardian Weaponry+ +++++++++++++++++++ The Guardians are allowed to use weapons that all other Templar can use as well. The only item that Guardian can use that other Templar can't is the Hand Grappler. This item allows the Guardian to grab an enemy nearby and pull them in close so the Guardian can deal better damage. Frequently Asked Questions ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q - You took your random theory of the essences out of the Cow Level theory... Why? A - I took it out of the Cow Level theory because Patch 1.0 has explained the reason for each of the essences. You need 5 essences of each certain type in order to open the seals to the respected caves leading to the Lord of that type of monster/demon. Q - I have a bunch of raw material to use to build stuff or upgrade the items. How does one add another mod into an equipment ? A - The raw materials are used at the moment with the Nanoforge and a certain merchant in each station known as a Crafter. You place the item you want to upgrade in the machine (Weapons and Armor only) and then you will be given a list of the materials you need to add to the box on the right. After placing the items in the box you can upgrade the item. For weapons it seems to upgrade the amount of physical damage and on armor it seems to upgrade the armor and shields. It may also have use with the Transmogrifier some day as well. As of right now that is all they are used for. As for the Crafter you simply locate them usually near the normal shops. Talk to them and they list items on the left side. Click on the items and it shows you on the upper right box how much raw materials and sometimes additional money you will need to hand over for them to create the item. The items they create are usually Armor, Weapons, and mods to add to your weapons. In order to add a mod to an item you have to first get a weapon mod to place on your weapon. It can't just be any mod...you have to hover over the weapon and look at what type of slots it has and what are open for use. Simply buy them in the store or find them off killed enemies (rares and unique monster types have a lot in drops). Now simply go in your inventory and grab the mod, if it is compatible with your weapon the weapon will stand out from the grayed out items in your inventory. Just click on the weapon and it will auto-add. To take all your mods off you can go to the Delux De-Modificator, drop the weapon in the slot and pay a fee to have them removed. You get the mods back in there seperated form to be used again. Also if you want to add properties to your weapons and armor you can place them in a Augmentrex 3000 to pay a large fee and extra abilities and stats to it. Note that all of the above can add new Equip Costs to your items as well as a higher level needed to hold it so be careful with what you are adding to it. Q - What is the basic strategy to optimize both cash and materials? At the moment, I am scraping all the basic materials and selling the enhanced stuff that i don't use. A - At the beginning of the game it is best to sell everything you don't use for cash right away so you can get items that will help you boost through some hard parts here and there. As you level up higher and get deeper in to the game you will want to start saving all the raw materials from whatever you can break down and use them to upgrade things on your own as you will usually find better items on your own that you will want to upgrade. Q - Is it a really good idea to mod the weapons you have by adding properties such as rare properties? Is it a waste of money or a good investment? Cash can be really strapped with the amount of money that they throw out at times. A - I personally have only done it a few times. Its up to you if you want to spend the cash and add some new properties to the item. The only problem with it is if you buy the properties you won't be able to take them off later and at anytime you could still find a better weapon than the one you just did. I probably wouldn't bother with it until you find a good flow of money to get. Q - Is it a good idea to try and use the Craft NPC to build items? A - Yes, it is a great idea to use the crafter when you can. Generally it is a cheap way to get some good items sometimes. They do change what they offer so you won't ALWAYS find the best of items but thats how markets/crafting works. Q - No dye kits offline, wtf?!? A - As of right now you can't use dye kits but you can right-click a piece of armor you are currently equipped to and select the colour scheme. Q - What happens to you when you die? A - When you die you get the option to either teleport back to the last station visited, come back as a ghost and find the location marked by tombstone to ressurect for free and half health, or to pay for a ressurection immediatly and have half health. Also in all cases you will be penalyzed by getting your XP earned temporarily decreased. Q - How do you unsummon minions? A - Hold Alt so the cursor appears and navigate over to the minions icon, click it and select dismiss. Q - I made it to Level 10 in under 4 hours, where is my achievement? A - The level achievements seem to currently be bugged. Q - I was playing in a level and the map shows I can go further in, yet it isn't connected. Do I need to activate something to move on or am I the wrong level? A - The game loads each stage randomly so there is a percentage of possibilities that will cause the level not to be fully connected. If this happens you must log out to the main menu and log back in for it to make a fresh stage. Q - Can my computer run Hellgate: London? SUBCRIBER ONLY FEATURES Stonehenge is a new, non-linear adventuring area that can be accessed through a special portal in Templar Base. The quests and areas around Stonehenge scale in difficulty to challenge characters of any level. This is to allow players to return to this section of the world numerous times and complete the longer associated quests, missions, and raid areas. Stonehenge itself is a new hub that holds a larger number of players than most Underground Stations. There are new NPCs, new quests, and most importantly, new adventuring areas that are unlike anything within the confines of London. Quests · A new series of non-linear quests introduce the area surrounding the great druidic monument of Stonehenge. The Caste Caves These mystic caves can be found in the wilderness areas outside of Stonehenge. Each caste of demon - Beast, Necro, Spectral, and Primus – has a powerful overlord that resides in these caves. The caves themselves are sealed by the essential aspect of their master’s caste. These caves cannot be entered until the essence of five (5) Champions of the matching demonic caste has been collected. Essence can be collected from any Champion, so adventuring above and below the streets of London may gain you the keys to unlocking these special areas. Once a character has gathered the required essence of a single Caste, they can either solo or lead a party into the caves and battle against the resident overlord. Not only are there great and special riches to be won, but the head of the caste overlord is also claimed. Once a character has collected the heads of the Beast, Necro, Spectral, and Primus overlords, the adventure continues. Moloch’s Lair A great and powerful Demon known as Moloch resides in the rough countryside surrounding Stonehenge, and only the worthy may enter his domain. Characters that have collected the heads of the Beast, Necro, Spectral, and Primus overlords can then make their way deep into the realms of Moloch, the Pit Baron. Moloch has very unique items that can only be won by defeating him in combat, so the journey to his defeat can be well worth the effort. His soul is eternal, however, so the process of opening his sanctum and destroying his corporeal form is a never-ending challenge. The Wild The other main area that lies outside of Stonehenge is known only as The Wild. The challenges here are far greater than anywhere else in or around London, requiring raiding parties to properly navigate them. The Wild is divided into three increasingly difficult sections that are balanced for parties of six, seven, and eight. This is regardless of the number of characters that enter The Wild, so while you could try to make your way slowly with a smaller group, the going will not be easy. Items There are new weapons and armor that can only be found in the areas surrounding Stonehenge. These new items have very different appearances from those found within London, so keep a sharp lookout for them. · 13 new base weapon types divided amongst the Templar, Cabalist, and Hunters. · Each faction also has two all-new Helmet types. Environments Apart from the settlement that has secreted itself at the Stonehenge triliths, there are numerous new areas to explore. Chief amongst these are the various Caste Caves and grand expanses and dark forests of The Wild. There are also new undergrounds and interiors to explore scattered throughout the countryside. Monsters The areas around Stonehenge also have spawned new Demons. The Winged Imps rain death down from the skies and swoop in to sever heads of those foolish enough to seek them out. Burning Fiends move amongst the underbrush and between the windswept trees. Moloch, the Pit Baron, also makes his fiery presence felt for the first time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patch 0.7 - 12/20/07 (2 Main memory issues fixed) New Game Version - 1.35.44.4020 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Memory Usage · Memory manager rewritten for better performance and stability. · Fixed a UI-related memory leak. · Fixed a clothing and armor texture-related memory issue.
