Borderlands 2 trailer appears. Crack, heroin and tobacco prices plummet as addicts find a new outlet

Borderlands 2 is a thing that exists. Do not doubt that. Do not treat that as rumour. Do not let Randy Pitchford make you think you are an evil person if you believe that it exists. Borderlands 2 is real, and to prove that, here is a teaser trailer. A brief, but very bloody exciting trailer, if you liked the first Borderlands. If you didn't like the first Borderlands, it probably won't be. But if you didn't like the first Borderlands then you're probably not excited by anything any more, since whatever that terrible thing was that happened to you that made you turn your back on the world and commence a nihilistic existence devoid of the capacity for human emotion.

For everyone else though, hey, here's Borderlands 2! It has graphics and colour and a winsome, characterful art style and everything! Including snow and grass and robots and monsters!

Grass on pandora? proper nice real green grass? happy days. However Im also in the camp of not liking this guys design, but I didnt really intend to play him anyway. provided there is a siren like class.

My problem with Borderlands was that it sacrificed single-player in favor of co-op; without friends to play with, the game really did feel repetitive and boring. Plus, FVHound hit it right on the head about the "thousands of guns" really just being "statistically different guns." Look, I have nothing against co-op and multiplayer, but when it starts to cut into and lessen the single-player experience significantly, then I take issue with it. I shouldn't have to go out and make friends just to enjoy a damn video game (especially one I paid $60 for). ... Then again, dear old Mr. Houghton has a valid point in that I really don't get exicted over that many things anymore (I am admittedly excited for Skyrim, but that's about it).

I thought the angle of the magazine cover made him look short, but I guess that's just how he's gonna be XD I'm definitely gonna keep my eye on this one.

Wouldja quit bitching about Borderlands? Yeesh, if you didn't like it at all, why would you even think seeing the second trailer would be worth it? And being "repetitive" is in the eye of the beholder--and if it IS repetitive, it's also based on how fun that repetition is. And damn, I LOVED Borderlands for throwing the same "repetitive shit" at me. And then again, what game doesn't repeat itself? If you boil down every single game in existence, it's kinduv, you know, the same things it's meant to do. Oh, and nice trailer! Stupid teasers, bein' all short and stuff....
  • thecresta - August 16, 2011 4:34 p.m.

Get rid of that damn video player! Why did I need to watch the trailer 3 times before I could see what the hell he was shooting at?
  • JeffersonTrachea - August 16, 2011 4:26 p.m.

Borderlands may not be one of the best games out there, but it's one of the most fun. So, I'm pretty excited for this.

"So I am the only one who found borderlands repetitive, boring and more of the same over and over again" A lot of people found it somewhat repetitive, but so are a million other games. The key is whether or not you're repeating something incredibly mundane or repeating something endlessly entertaining. When you've got friends, Borderlands is endlessly entertaining.
  • MichaelCera - August 16, 2011 3:38 p.m.

Is that character wearing a Dead Kennedys button?
  • GR_DavidHoughton - August 16, 2011 3:24 p.m.

Doctalen: Resolution changed dynamically depending on the current strength of your connection. It overdoes it a bit sometimes though. If you're getting crap resolution, just pull the slider back a few seconds. It usually kicks it into gear.
  • majormoses117 - August 16, 2011 3:13 p.m.

Awesome! Time to buy some more crack and heroine!
  • Doctalen - August 16, 2011 2:23 p.m.

Wow really hard to see that trailer with the low resolution of your video player. Pretty sure I saw a robot and green must equal grass.
  • FVHound - August 16, 2011 2:06 p.m.

So I am the only one who found borderlands repetitive, boring and more of the same over and over again, with the whole concept of 'thousands of guns' a Lie, as it was really 'over a thousand statistically different guns'. Look I don't deny that other people have good reason to enjoy the game, I just simple couldn't after two hours. even when i forced myself through another 3. But then again I didn't like oblivion, but liked morrowind, so I know lot's of people will have something against me for that :| Whoo, freedom of expression...

The music wasn't as impact full as no rest for the wicked but still it looks to be okay
  • Yeager1122 - August 16, 2011 1:38 p.m.

Need more info on new ideas in this one before i can tell whethere it would be worth it or not.

A customisable claptrap as a buddy would be just grand. Look at him, he's dancin', he's dancin'!!
  • mockraven - August 16, 2011 12:24 p.m.

Borderlands is the only FPS I really got into. Portal is FP... P for puzzler? Anyway, I'm terrible at FPS because I'm spazzy with the shooting part but the class mods (instant usefulness despite my suckiness) and having friends helping out made it a lot of fun. I look forward to Borderlands 2 for the same reason. I do hope there'll at least be more customization and more humor, but if it's like the first then it'll still be fun. :)
  • VMPSaberwolf - August 16, 2011 11:45 a.m.

I had technical issues with the last Borderlands. It would crash to desktop every half hour and connecting via multiplayer was a pain. I hope this one fixes all of that.
  • jackthemenace - August 16, 2011 11:42 a.m.

Oh, Plus the ability to dual-wield?
  • jackthemenace - August 16, 2011 11:41 a.m.

SO, I've got so far that it's gonna be a similar sort of vibe to the last one, the music's going to be pretty damn similar, There are going to be a whole lot more different stats with teh guns, like different mags and things (possibly even being able to mod your own guns [/wishfulthinking]) And, from the fact that so far we've only seen one character, are we going to play as him the whole way through? Or, instead of having four default classes to hoose from, do we choose a class and then design our character ourselves?
