BioShock Infinite DLC plans, season pass announced

Irrational Games has announced plans to release a BioShock Infinite DLC season pass.

The game went gold earlier this week ahead of the BioShock Infinite release date of March 26, and the studio said today that production of DLC has recently begun.

The BioShock Infinite season pass will offer access to three planned add-ons packs providing “hours of additional gameplay” that continues “the player’s journey in the sky-city of Columbia with new stories, characters, abilities and weapons”.

Season pass buyers will also receive access four pieces of exclusive gear: a machine gun damage upgrade, a pistol damage upgrade, a gold skin for both weapons and five “Infusion bottles that allow players to increase their health, their shield durability or their ability to use Vigors by increasing the quantity of Salts they can carry”.

If purchased individually the three DLC packs will cost a combined total of $30, but bought upfront with the season pass they’ll be available for $19.99 on PS3 and PC, and 1,600 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360 ($20.00 / £13.71 / €19.20).

Normally I would shun this but since there is no multiplayer I will take the plunge. I'm guessing this will be the only season pass I will ever buy though since most season passes consist of 75% multi 5% single and 20% empty broken promises.

Not that I'm picking on Bioshock in particular, but am I the only one who feels the season pass is basically like optioning to pay $90-100 for a new game instead of the regular $60? I'll be getting this game regardless. Good thing great games area dime a dozen these days, and I can just play something else while I wait for an edition with all the DLC in one pack for sale on Steam.

The feeling is certainly hitting me with a lot of games with DLC near day one. I'm just gonna wait for that legendary Steam sale, too.

Season passes...so dumb : | Binding yourself to the DLC without even knowing if it's good..Borderlands 2 for example : |

More hours of bio shock infinite? That sounds fine to me.

As much as I don't like Season Passes... This is BioShock. Let alone from the mind of Ken Levine. I think I'll be okay in getting this. I mean, Minerva's Den was fantastic, and that wasn't even the same studio.

UGH! I really hate all this season pass nonsense. Sorry Irrational, but I'm going to wait for all this to release, and go on sale on Steam just like I have with Borderlands 2.
