Big Daddy sculpture carved with chainsaw

Every man needs a hobby. For wood sculptor and horror movie fan, Jason-san, that means donning a hockey mask and posting videos of him carving sculptures of famous videogame and manga characters out of gigantic hunks of wood.

Check out the video below to see Jason-san go to work as he builds a beautifully detailed sculpture of a Big Daddy based on a BioShock 2 figurine. You can see more videos of Jason-san going all Edward Scissorhands on trees by visiting his YouTube page. And you can see more pictures of his carvings on his blog.

Man versus wood

I've seen ppl carve bears this way, but the Big Daddy is amazing! A totem for the 21st century.

I agree with Eureka about the legs seeming a bit disproportionate, but this is just amazing... this man is truly a master of his craft

@matt588 Are you freakin' serious?! I've played through the game four times and I didn't know Delta had a knife on his belt! You also only properly saw the Delta symbol at like 2 parts, and it was easy to miss. This guy is a god with a chainsaw.

Now we've got to move to carving things with gases, like blow torch emissions.

Guess this guy hasn't played the game, he missed a couple of small things, 1. the knife? on the left side side of the belt 2. at the 9:03 you see the back of his hand, and although there was a pattern, I did not see the delta symbol that's not to say that I don't think that this guy is amazing, I was impressed at the 4 min. mark

With skill like that, why wasn't he recruited into Rapture? Somebody give this guy some plasmids!

Amazing sculpture with a lot of detail, but I think the legs are disproportionate and the pose is weird.

Beautiful... just as a side note, I wonder if it'll be discovered in 3000 years and they'll think it was a 21st century god or something :P

  • FrozenImplosion - February 27, 2010 2:11 a.m.

:D I saw this earlier today when it was on Bioshock 2's twitter update thing, and i was seriously impressed at the intense level of detail!

Wow, this is an amazing bit of sculpture, but I can't help but feel that it didn't have to have the petrified wooden (pardon) stance. It would have been much better if it was posed in an action stance.

of course i think he usedmore than a chainsaw. but WOW man. thats insane. kudos to the creator
