  • BladedFalcon - August 31, 2013 8:33 a.m.

Better graphics, better art-style, better combat, better gameplay, better story, better dungeon design. Take your pick.
  • JohhnyDamage - August 31, 2013 12:50 p.m.

I picked them all. Thats why I chose Ocarina.
  • BladedFalcon - August 31, 2013 1 p.m.

If you seriously think Ocarina of Time is a better looking game and has better controls and level design, you're either drowned heavily in nostalgia, in denial, or damaged of the brain. How many times must it be said people? YES Ocarina of Time WAS a great game for it's time, and it IS an important and Iconic game, but it's NOT an objectively good and playable game for today's standards. Almost none of the N64 games or PS games are. If you want Ocarina get it's due, go to the "most important games of all time" list. And you'll see it there. where it belongs.

Well, it has better level design, or you think Wind Waker's endless ocean is a good idea? It's another question that it looks awful, and it's almost unplayable.

It doesn't make sense why people could hate sailing in the game. Did you have the sound on when you sailed?

GTA IV and no San Andreas? SA was just so much better in every way. All this list had to do was follow the damn train.

I give this list a 4.5 out of 10. It has some good picks, but also some gutsy head scratchers. Let be realistic here. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is NOT better than Super Mario Sunshine. Zelda The Windwaker is NOT better than Ocarina Of Time. As incredible as Chronic Trigger is, its not the best RPG of all time, its top 10 though. Earthbound is better than Mother 3 (but im extremely pleased it made the list. Here is my personal top 25 games of ALL TIME: 1. Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars (SNES) 2. Halo (Xbox) 3. Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (N64) 4. Resident Evil 4 (GC) 5. Earthbound (SNES) 6. Mega Man 2 (NES) 7. GoldenEye 007 (N64) 8. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (Genesis) 9. Super Mario Bros (NES) 10. God Of War 3 (PS3) 11. Super Punch Out (SNES) 12. Tetris (GB/NES) 13. Gears Of War 3 (Xbox 360) 14. Shadow Of The Colossus (PS2) 15. Super Metroid (SNES) 16. Gunstar Heroes (Genesis) 17. Pokemon Blue/Red (GB) 18. Perfect Dark (N64) 19. Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night (PS1) 20. Super Smash Bros Melee (GC) 21. Grand Theft Auto 3 (PS2) 22. Conkers Bad Fur Day (N64) 23. Golden Sun (GBA) 24. Zelda: A Link To The Past (SNES) 25. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (GC) Cheers fellow gamers, shame the staff lacks em.

    Yours is better.

Your list is more indicative of the type of system you have, because you didn't include a single PC game, including the ones that created and perfected entire genres that are otherwise left on your list. I'm generally only into PC games lately, just because of the accuracy inherent in using a mouse, but I wouldn't create a list that didn't include a single console game, because thats not what the article is about. I prefer their choices. I can't say there's a bad game on the list. Though I do think Half Life 2 and its episodes should probably outrank Portal. Though since they take place in the same universe, I look forward to them crossing over in the next installment, whenever that is.

#1 SHOULD have been Kingdom Hearts BEST GAME EVER!!!
  • markegiani - September 21, 2013 3:12 p.m.

I just love RPG's like fallout, but Planescape torment isn't near the list of 10000 best games ever. It has horrific combat gameplay and it can't be an RPG cause of minimum choices in developing a character. Storyline is mere interesting but there are many games with much, much better script than Planescape. An average game ....
  • markegiani - September 21, 2013 3:27 p.m.

Braid is definitely overrated ! The game has fantastic audio/visuals, but that is all. I just love old time platform/logic games but here I was utterly dissapointed after two or three levels.

Top 10: 10: Super Mario 64 9: Red Dead Redemption 8: Shadow of the Colossus 7: Chrono Trigger 6: Super Metroid 5: Half-Life 4: Journey 3: Ocarina of Time 2: The Last of Us 1: Portal (gotta love it).
  • TheGooseinator - September 21, 2013 5:48 p.m.

Gamesradar made a bold choice by picking Wind Waker over Ocarina of Time, as it is a more unique and ambitious experience (looks like Assassins Creed 4 ISN'T the first open world sailing game!), but ultimately I believe that Ocarina of Time is simply a more wholesome, epic experience. It offers a truly epic fantasy universe and plot, standing alongside Chrono Trigger as an example for all that came after it. And the controls, while not as polished as Wind Waker (or Twilight Princess for that matter), it offered a wide range of control over the purposely more linear, deliberate, and clever environmental design that caters to fans of a wide range of genres and gaming interests. If you want the admittedly amazing experience that Wind Waker provides, then it is undoubtedly the better game. But if you're looking for a shining example of everything the Zelda series, or even the entire fantasy genre is capable of, then Ocarina is definitely the way to go.
