Baldur’s Gate returns this summer with Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition

It'd been rumored for a while and when the teaser site posted we predicted as much, but today it was made officially: Baldur's Gate is coming back. Today developer Beamdog and publisher Atari (along with D&D game master's Wizards of the Coast) announced Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and that it's coming out this summer. Here's the enigmatic image the companies released:

Other than this very little info is out there. Overhaul Games, a part of Beamdog, is overseeing the development of what sounds like a remake (HD perhaps) of the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired RPG original. The devs have gone on record about the edition saying "This is the Enhanced Edition, it's not a repackage. We have the original source code and are doing a significant update." We'll doubtlessly know more very soon, but with this and the Diablo III release date this has been a pretty crazy day for a certain collection of gamers.

Awesome. I don't know which I love more, the Mass Effect trilogy or the Baldur's Gate series. Can't wait to see what the enhancements will entail.

lol I hope they have Minsc make some crazy reference to Boo spending time in space after his ME3 cameo

Will there still be no point in playing anyone other than a mage?

I hope it will be updated with something other than 2e.. and consider WotC has a "we only support the current edition of the game" Policy I would put money on it.

I would of enjoyed the Enhanced Edition until I saw it was a Beamdog exclusive and lost pretty much all interest immediately.

i just hope it will be 100% completely similar to the original with just updated graphics/sounds i didn't even play the original yet but i like when enhanced edition games stay completely true to the original

lol seriously. I don't understand what took them so long. Re-release both BG's and both KOTOR's, for minimal porting and "enhancing", I pay 20-40 bucks for a product I already owned because I am addicted. Why are they holding off on this?
