Baldurs Gate returns this summer with Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
Atari and Overhaul bringing back PC classic
It'd been rumored for a while and when the teaser site posted we predicted as much, but today it was made officially: Baldur's Gate is coming back. Today developer Beamdog and publisher Atari (along with D&D game master's Wizards of the Coast) announced Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and that it's coming out this summer. Here's the enigmatic image the companies released:
Other than this very little info is out there. Overhaul Games, a part of Beamdog, is overseeing the development of what sounds like a remake (HD perhaps) of the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired RPG original. The devs have gone on record about the edition saying "This is the Enhanced Edition, it's not a repackage. We have the original source code and are doing a significant update." We'll doubtlessly know more very soon, but with this and the Diablo III release date this has been a pretty crazy day for a certain collection of gamers.
