Angry Birds Star Wars to debut Monday

Quiver in fear, consumers. The merchandising might of Star Wars and Angry Birds are uniting with a huge line of toys, clothes, action figures and anything else which might bear the image of the Red Bird as Luke Skywalker just in time for the holiday season, according to Fast Company.

(There's going to be a video game, too. No details have been given, but iOS, Android, and every other platform from there is a safe bet considering the Angry Birds franchise.)

More details on the collision of licensing juggernauts will emerge on Monday morning, when Lucasfilm plans to reveal its product line at the New York's Times Square Toys R Us. “We’re hoping to have some of the hottest toys for the holidays,” said Derryl DePriest, vice president of global brand management for toy-manufacturer Hasbro.

For starters? A Jenga set shaped like the Death Star, complete with birds to fling at it and knock over. Follow the Angry Birds Tumblr for more information, or just watch Red Bird's lightsaber ignite and extinguish and contemplate what a long, strange trip it's been.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
