About Last Night review

The ‘80s bandwagon rolls on with this redux of the Brat Pack demi-classic.

Again based on David Mamet’s play Sexual Perversity In Chicago , About Last Night ’14 explores the rocky friendships and romances of two polar-opposite couples – fussy, soulless yuppies Danny (Michael Ealy) and Debbie (Joy Bryant), and constantly warring loudmouths Bernie (Kevin Hart) and Joan (Regina Hall).

The goal, as in any romcom, is to make you weep in awe at the power of love. In order to get there, you need a high tolerance for ‘frank’ sex talk and a fetish for high-end LA real estate.

Directed by Hot Tub Time Machine ’s Steve Pink, it’s raunchier than its ’86 counterpart, but still not much of a turn-on.
