69 million 'team actions' will unlock the classic Operation Hastings map in Bad Company 2 Vietnam

DICE has put a little something extra into the new Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam add-on, but you'll only be able to get it if everyone else wants it as much as you. The "Operations Hastings" map, which has been revived from the classic Battlefield: Vietnam from 2004, is hidden in the new DLC pack, but won't be available until 69 million online "team actions" are recorded. That's a lot of actions.

Check out the map's trailer below:

Team actions include the following:

  • Resupply
  • Revive
  • Heal
  • Spot
  • Repair

Even if you don't buy the expansion pack, you're still helping out by playing, as actions in the main game will be counted in addition to those recorded on the Vietnam DLC maps.

So... 69 million is a really big number, though we can't say we know how many team actions are recorded on an average day - we imagine it's not trivial. But why not put in some extra effort? Go kill yourself repeatedly and have a friend revive you until the map is unlocked. That seems like a good use of your time!

The Vietnam expansion is out December 18 for $15 on PC, and December 21 for the same price on PSN and 1200 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360.

I do love some team actions, but it's a bitch to try and find PS3 owners with headsets.

@KnightDehumidier: Though it is most likely the year that 'Nam takes place in.

Hopefully, all the lone-wolves out there will be too busy with Black Ops to come on Bad Company 2 and will leave it for those who want to play it the way it was meant to be played! It's more fun that way, anyway.

I want it just for the tuk tuks. Is that bad?

They did something similar in 1943 where you had to get 43 million kills to unlock a new dogfight map

@supersmurfybob i agree, as a sniper, in any given map i can spot at least 30 opponents throughout the course of the game, if not more. Captchya : temburre cried... he sure did, he sure did...

Do people still try to lone-wolf it in this game? I stopped playing over the summer because I could never find a good team and my friends went back to MW:2 (which I never bought because BF is more my style and you can bring down all the buildings!). With the new maps I've been thinking of firing it up again but if it's still impossible to get ammo and a health pack I think I'll go insane.

Cool. One of the bigger Vietnam maps. Although I'm pretty sure 69 mil can probably be achieved rather quickly, since support actions are almost mandatory for success.
