If you're going retro with Dizzy and Jet Set Willy you could probably also have How To Be A Complete Bastard, where you gatecrash a party and try to get rid of the other guests just to be a twat ;)

"Bass Armstrong joins the DOA tournament in the original game to make sure his 22 year old daughter, Tina, doesn’t get hurt and because he doesn’t approve of her wearing skimpy outfits and making money from beating up some dudes. His method of saving Tina from her terrible fate, is by dressing up in skimpy outfits, and making money by beating up some dudes." Sounds like the real life story of Desi Foxx entering the porn industry to save her daughter Ellie Foxx from the murky world of degrading herself on camera and getting ploughed by pervy drug addicts by... degrading herself on camera and getting ploughed by pervy drug addicts.

Actually Sonic has a pretty good motivation After the tutorial level, he gets hit with a flame arrow, and if the flame goes out before he can defeat the Erazor Djinn, then he dies. So i think saving his own ass from a fire filled magical death is a pretty good motivation.

wait if gears isn't in this then why did you even put it as a thumbnail? That really sends some unjustified shit flying at Gears......

I figured no more heroes would have made the list.
  • fattoler - January 15, 2014 11:58 a.m.

IIRC In Sonic And The Secret Rings if Erazer Gijnn (not sure if that's spelt correct) destroyed the pages of the Arabian Knights then the people in that dimension would all be eradicated. Sure it's not Sonic's own dimension being destroyed but the whole point of heroes is that they should rise up to protect others without thinking of themselves.

Ah, to go on a geeky rant, actually, Erazor Djin is erasing the Arabian Nights to absorb their power (?) into himself, which would allow him to escape the book and wreak havoc on Sonic's world. Then again, Sonic can just go get the Chaos Emeralds and beat him up even easier there, sooooooo...
  • fattoler - January 15, 2014 2:20 p.m.

Yeah, I didn't really pay much attention to the Storybook games. However I still think Sonic was a poor choice for this list, guy can never catch a break eh?
  • SonicHunter - January 16, 2014 3:58 p.m.

Yeah... *sigh*. It's not easy being a Sonic fan when 90% of the internet is out to get you. Sure, he's had some bad games, but he's not nearly as bad as everyone makes him out to be; he's really fun if you actually play the games. I mean, come on, Generations? Colors? Heroes? Daytime Unleashed? I even like Lost Worlds, though most of the internet doesn't. God, I'm lonely.

I think the issue is that Sonic isn't as good as he used to be. Which doesn't mean newer Sonic games are *bad* per say, but that compared to the ground-breaking games of the 2D era nothing has quite grasped the same level of magic. As I said, the 3D games aren't *bad* games but it is easy to see why people are so jaded about Sonic. Then again, I liked the Werehog levels so what do I know.
  • SonicHunter - January 17, 2014 2:51 p.m.

I like the 3D games as much as the 2D ones, honestly. I never saw why people seemed to think that Mario is the only one who has gone from 2D to 3D well; Sonic did it amazingly with Sonic Adventure. And while I do miss some elements from classic games, I feel that the 3D games are good overall.
  • fattoler - January 17, 2014 3:16 p.m.

Yeah, I liked the 3D games, Sonic Team and SEGA just need to pull their finger out and put some more effort into their games. SLW was okay but the fact that it didn't feel like a Sonic game just makes me worried about the franchise...

Well, let me get this out right now; when I finished Lost Worlds, I felt that it was more of a test game than anything, like Unleashed. Sure, the Sonic stages were amazing in that, but we can all agree that Sonic Colors and Generations improved on that formula. That's what I think Lost Worlds is; they've never done this before, and they're trying it out.
  • fattoler - January 19, 2014 5:17 a.m.

That may be but seeing how well Generations was received you'd think it would make sense for them to carry on doing that. I wish them the best of luck though and whatever the third game on the Wii U is I hope it works well.

Well, while I liked the boost mechanic, I was getting tired of the "boost to win" layout of levels.

I don't know if Space Station Silicon Valley counts, that one had also a very random development of events.
  • GOD - January 15, 2014 9:06 p.m.

If you're referring to the N64 game with the android animals, then thank you for reminding me of its existence, cause I thought that game was pretty great!
  • Vonter - January 16, 2014 11:13 a.m.

I've been wanting to play a new game that lets you do something similar. Being able to transform to other things to solve puzzles, have depth in battle or do cool traversal like in Deadly Creatures.
  • shinkeiDEI - January 15, 2014 10:24 a.m.

In Scott Pilgrim you have it backwards, the exes come after Scott not the other way around.
  • BladedFalcon - January 15, 2014 10:27 a.m.

He's talking about the game specifically, not the comic or the movie.
