Xbox 360 Christmas price cut

Thursday 22 June 2006
Microsoft is apparently planning to slash prices on Xbox 360 this Christmas, bringing the core package below £200 and the premium pack down to £220, in a move that will undoubtedly affect Sony's PlayStation 3 launch.

Techie-folk at Microsoft are redesigning the crucial components of the next-gen console to enable a drop in price, according to britxbox.co.uk. It seems that Microsoft could cut the cost as early as autumn, although Dean Takahasi - author of The Xbox 360 Uncloaked - recently suggested during an interview with us that Microsoft would only make the inevitable price cut if it saw sales begin to stagger at the time of PS3's launch.

Whatever the speculation, it's likely that a price cut will happen eventually, and it would be a perfect way for Microsoft to usurp Sony's exceedingly expensive PS3. Expect to hear more on this in the near future.
