With Fox's revival of The X-Files still three months away from its premiere, the network's carefully plotted marketing strategy has provided us a steady stream of trailers and previews. None of them really deal with anything outside of the pilot episode, teasing audiences solely with the return of Mulder and Scully. This new teaser is cut from a different cloth, though. There are monsters.
Granted, we expected the paranormal pair to tackle some beasties in addition to dealing with the ongoing alien conspiracy. Part of why the original run was a success hinged on its ability to weave 'monster of the week' episodes into the grander series arc. Nevertheless, it still gives us chills to hear Scully's opening voiceover: “We’ve been given another case, Mulder; it has a monster in it."
As expected, no story details are revealed, but does that really matter when the FBI duo are going to be up against what appears to be a zombie? Starring Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, Mitch Pileggi, William B. Davis and Annabeth Gish, The X-Files returns for its six-part revival in the US on January 24, 2016. The show is currently without a UK release date.
