Zynga launching Lady Gaga-themed FarmVille spin-off, GagaVille

Funny story: minutes after writing that headline, my laptop became self-aware and attempted to drag itself into the middle of a busy intersection. That's a sign, right?

Starting next week, Gaga fans can frolic on a special plot of FarmVille land designed by the controversial diva herself, featuring uniqueitems andanimals like unicorns and motorcycle sheep. Those who tend to Gaga's garden from May 17th to May 23rd will also have theopportunity tounlock tracks from her forthcoming Born This Way album by completing in-game tasks. Further p-p-p-p-p-perks include exclusive access to Born This Way remixes, extra songs, and a chance to join Lady Gaga on the set of her next music video.

Hold on...now my laptop is threatening to set fire to its insides. Better make this quick:

“I want to celebrate and share ‘Born This Way’ with my little monsters in a special way that’s never been done before,” said Lady Gaga, possibly while sewing together a hat made of hamster feet and meteorites. “Zynga has created a magical place in FarmVille where my fans can come play, and be the first to listen to the album.”

Lady Gaga items will also be sold in other Zynga games including CityVille, FrontierVille, Mafia Wars, Zynga Poker, Café World, Treasure Isle, YoVille, PetVille, and Vampire Wars.

At risk of losing a computer and further alienating myself from the entire gaming community, Imust say thatI have nothing against Lady Gaga. She may not be everyone's cup of crazy tea, but at least she's committed to doing her own thing and has, on more than one occasion, donatedtorelief efforts in Japan. Teaming up with Zynga may not win her any favors with mainstream gamers, but hell, a Lady's gotta eat, right?
