“Worst migration ever!” sighs plucky Pachyrhinosaurus ‘Patchi’ (Justin Long) in this big-screen upgrade of the BBC documentary series, here anthropomorphised in a way more reminiscent of Disney’s Dinosaur than dear old David Attenborough.

Placards announcing the various prehistoric species convey some educatory message, though it is swiftly sidelined as its Cretaceous hero faces sibling rivalry, romantic travails and a pack of hungry Gorgosaurs keen to have him for lunch.

No one knows of course what dinos would sound like, but we’re pretty sure it wouldn’t be like an American teenage wise-ass.

Ignore the chit-chat, though, and the CG critters wow.
