Insomniac Games and Sony have revealed the identity of the mystery project the pair has been teasing over the past few days: Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus. The new single player platformer, which is billed as an epilogue to the R&C Future saga (Tools of Destruction, Quest For Booty, and A Crack in Time), is slated for release on PS3 this holiday, both in stores and as a PSN download priced at $29.99.
The story sees Ratchet and Clank lost in an abandoned sector of deep space, where they uncover an inter-dimensional event that threatens the universe. Insomniac community lead James Stevenson told the PlayStation Blog that the game will introduce a bunch of “crazy new weapons and gadgets”, while gravity is one of the game’s themes: “you’ll experience zero-g space, you’ll use gravity-defying new gadgets, and you’ll manipulate gravity to solve brand new Clank puzzles”. Check out the first screenshots above and the debut trailer below.
In April, Insomniac announced that Ratchet & Clank will hit the silver screen in 2015. The duo and friends are being made into a feature film for theatres by Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment. Insomniac is also currently working on Sunset Overdrive exclusively for Xbox One.
