Patrick Stewart appears in new X-Men: Days Of Future Past image

Bryan Singer has tweeted a new image from the set of X-Men: Days Of Future Past , giving us our first look at Patrick Stewart’s returning Professor Xavier.

There’s nothing too revelatory in the new shot, although Xavier does seem to be sporting a new costume, which is enough to get our geek senses tingling in itself.

The new image is accompanied by the caption, “picture before picture… tomorrow it begins,” confirming that filming will begin in earnest tomorrow, ahead of a 2014 release date.

The new film will see the X-Men warned from the future of a terrible threat to mutantkind, with the narrative jumping back and forth through time, encompassing both older and younger versions of Xavier, Magneto et al.

Directed by Singer and co-starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, X-Men: Days Of Future Past opens in the UK on 18 July 2014.
