GR+ Live: The making of Double Fine's Headlander

The last human being in existence is a common hero in science fiction. We are, in video games, regularly legend. Typically the last man or woman standing has all their body parts in tow. They are not typically a disembodied head, so Headlander has that going for it. Actually Headlander, a Metroid-style exploration action game with a whole lot of noggin shuffling involved, is an excellent game by all accounts. If you're wondering why a game about heads in space gets made, listen to Double Fine itself! Project lead Lee Petty, Double Fine VP of business Greg Rice and community manager James Spafford joined us for a wide ranging discussion about making a '70s sci-fi Metroidvania.

I've been playing games since I turned four in 1986, been writing about them since 1987, and writing about them professionally since 2008. My wife and I live in New York City. Chrono Trigger is my favorite game ever made, Hum's Downward is Heavenward is my favorite album, and I regularly find myself singing "You Won't See Me" by The Beatles in awkward situations.
