A new poster has arrived online for 300: Rise Of An Empire , starring Lena Headey as the steely Queen Gorgo.
“Avenge him” screams the accompanying tagline, presumably in reference to the fallen Leonidas, who was rather fond of a good scream himself.
Gorgo herself doesn’t look quite as fearsome as Headey’s more famous regent, Cersei Lannister, but she certainly doesn’t seem as though she’s going to take the Persians’ marauding lying down…
The new film will take place before, during and after the events of the original film, as the battle for Greece shifts away from the dusty plains and onto the high seas.
Directed by Noam Murro and co-starring Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green and Rodrigo Santoro, 300: Rise Of An Empire will open in the UK on 7 March 2014.
