GR+ Live: Meet the creator of Shadow Complex Remastered

Everything's changed in the seven years since Shadow Complex first hit Xbox 360. Metroidvania games, once an endangered species, are now plentiful. Nolan North was still only in about half of all games rather than pretty much all of them. And everyone thought Shadow Complex was just the beginning of a promising new series. That may have never happened but this much is true: the game is still great and Shadow Complex Remastered proves it.

Chair Entertainment was founded in the crucible of one of the gaming industry's most tumultuous period. Not only did it survive thanks to hits like Shadow Complex and Infinity Blade, but it's thrived. Co-founder Donald Mustard joined us to discuss Metroidvanias, changing technology, and what it's like to work with Star Wars' JJ Abrams.

Anthony John Agnello
I've been playing games since I turned four in 1986, been writing about them since 1987, and writing about them professionally since 2008. My wife and I live in New York City. Chrono Trigger is my favorite game ever made, Hum's Downward is Heavenward is my favorite album, and I regularly find myself singing "You Won't See Me" by The Beatles in awkward situations.
