"Are you fucking retarded?" says Maisie Williams ( Game Of Thrones ) to her deadbeat dad in this droll Irish indie, making it clear from the off that Ray's return to the fold – complete with sofa strapped precariously to his car roof – won't be a happy family reunion. And so it proves, as David Wilmot's recovering depressive proceeds to send Williams' PE teacher stepdad (James Nesbitt) to casualty and seduce his wife while he's hospitalised.

If it was indeed Niall Heery's aim to transplant The Royal Tenenbaums to suburban Dublin, he's done an OK job – Nesbitt's even wearing Ben Stiller's tracksuit.
