Yesterday, designer Cliff Bleszinski tweeted the following tease: “What IS the surprise going to be tomorrow? #Gears3Beta CAN YOU GUESS IT ZOMG.”
If you predicted new maps, modes or weapons like a sane and rational individual might, you obviously didn’t experience the Gears of War 3 beta on Easter, when characters mutated into nightmarish bunnymen, or Gears 2 on the Fourth of July, when American gamers had to face a flood of extra tickers in Horde mode.
How does the development team top those stunts? Well, just watch…
For a presumably limited time only, every avatar has been given a humongous, helium-filled head, transforming the multiplayer into a cross between Marvel Super Hero Squad and Alvin and the Chipmunks. Has death and dismemberment ever been so adorable?
Epic also added a new “mode” called Player’s Choice, which is really more of a playlist – instead of sticking exclusively to Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill and Capture the Leader, your party will rotate between them. Ehh.
