Damon Lindelof talks Prometheus sequel

Despite the slightly lukewarm reception received by Prometheus last year, Fox are apparently keen to press on with a sequel picking up with the adventures of Dr Elizabeth Shaw.

Screenwriter Damon Lindelof has already ruled himself out of a return however, a development that Bloody Disgusting has reported to have thrown the studio for a loop.

However, Lindelof has responded to the idea that his non-involvement has upset the applecart, claiming that there are plenty of writers available to fill his shoes.

“As to whether Ridley and Fox are ‘freaking out’ about me not working on a sequel, well that’s news to me,” says Lindelof. “I retain awesome relationships with both.

“More importantly, the idea that there aren’t many, MANY writers out there capable of taking the reins is sort of ridiculous. I did not map out a trilogy and then walk when the going got tough. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know me and doesn’t know the truth.”

All of which sounds a little like the original report was a storm in a teacup. We’d agree with Lindelof on this one: if Ridley Scott and the studio want to do a sequel, a sequel will likely get made…
