The One Where: Joe has a job interview and the boss’s wife is an Alli-fan. Then Allison starts having dreams about the boss’s daughter being kidnapped... except that she hasn’t even gone missing. And what is the link with Paris?

Verdict: This week’s villain has concocted a Hell of crime: recreating a Paris hotel room in his studio complete with false perspective skyline. It’s more Columbo than Medium, and – along with the old, “villain wears gloves to disguise a giveaway wound” schtick – feels just a little too cheesy for this particular show. But there’s still loads to enjoy. It’s good to see that Allison has fans, and it’s easy to sympathise with Joe, who just for once would like his wife’s abilities to give him an advantage. There are some great Allison/Joe dialogues (especially the one about “the look”) although Joe does seem to have discovered a new cliché – asking Allison if she noticed the make and colour of a car she dreams about.
Gratuitous Time Check:
Joe: “Sorry to wake you up in the middle of the night, Peter.” What? Hang on? No mention of a specific time? How did that geffe sneak through?
Highlight: A laconic Scanlon doing a Godzilla impression in a pretend, scaled-down Paris.
Gaffe: At one point, a clock on Allison and Joe’s bedside table sticks at 10:37 for well over a minute.
Joe [to Allison]: "And just remember – if we ever hope to send our three girls to college, you’d damned well better find her."
