The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has hit theatres today, but Cinemark's Yoshi popcorn bucket may well be stealing the show. The adorable snack bowl has quickly become one of the most sought after collectibles since its announcement a couple of weeks ago, dwarfing the rest of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie toys in demand. When Cinemark itself ran out of stock, though, the resellers got to work.
I'm seeing listings running all the way up to $90 at eBay, and marketplace sellers at Walmart are hovering at between $50 and $60. However, the theatre brand has just released a new batch of pre-orders on its site, ready to ship in August. If you can wait, then, the Yoshi Popcorn Bucket is available its usual $49.95 MSRP.
If you can't wait, AMC might be your best bet. Several Reddit users have reported being able to buy them at the locations themselves, and with no online storefront this stock allocation is going straight to movie theatres.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has dropped to mixed reception today. We gave the theatrical release three out of five stars in our own review, with its undercooked story holding back some excellent action and animation.
Still, this is a kid's movie with the toy roster to back it up. There's a whole bunch of gadgets, figures, and games on the shelves right now (available at Walmart), from the similarly difficult-to-find Hatchin' Yoshi to a Star Launcher for each main character.

We're rounding up plenty more of the best toys on the market, as well as the best board games to boot.
