I'm a massive D&D nerd, and I can't help loving this epic Lego set

The Dungeons & Dragons kit really is a sight to Behold(er)

As someone who runs two D&D campaigns and loves making all manner of Lego nonsense, I think it's safe to say that the Lego Dungeons & Dragons set is precisely my jam. And if you also like to roll dice, it's probably going to be yours too.

I've poked around the model since launch so can now confirm without shadow of a doubt that it is, in fact, cool as hell. Featuring castle ruins that serve as a dragon's perch, a tavern built into the base (which feels like a bold choice), and dungeons filled with iconic monsters below-ground, it couldn't get more quintessentially D&D unless it stuck on a pointy wizard's hat and yelped "roll Initiative." This thing is also stuffed to the rafters with references that warmed my cold, dead heart, not to mention an impressive scale that rivals some of the best Lego sets.

Want the TL:DR? This 3,745-piece kit stands 19in tall, features six minifigures (including a classic adventuring party), has numerous iconic monsters based on D&D lore from the Beholder to the Displacer Beast, includes a load of Easter eggs for fans of the tabletop game, and even comes with a bespoke adventure you can use with the finished model.

It feels as though no stone has been left unturned for this kit, which I appreciate; we might not get another D&D kit, so may as well go for broke.

For starters, it's built around a tavern - the foundation for any good adventure, as all players of the best tabletop RPGs will know. This one goes by the rather delightful name "Inn Plain Sight" and packs all the tropes you'd hope for; miniature tankards of ale for the party to quaff after a hard day's adventuring, a bard to sing about your mighty deeds, and cozy aesthetics all around. Go upstairs and you'll find the remains of a ruined tower, which hints at a nefarious plot. There's even a trapdoor hidden outside, leading to the remains of the Inn's last victi - I mean, visitors.

That dungeon and the 'wilderness' attached to it are my favorite things about the kit. This is home to a classic Gelatinous Cube (the dreaded forbidden jello), mushroom-esque Myconids, the jaguar-from-hell Displacer Beast, and the two I personally love most - an Owlbear and the multi-eyed, utterly paranoid Beholder.

No, I'm not forgetting the dirty great Red Dragon. It's hard to miss this magnificent bastard, so I wanted to shine a light on other features you might have missed.

Will this kit get included in the 2025 Black Friday Lego deals? I hope so, and it's worth haunting Lego's official store when the company's own Black Friday sale gets going this November 28.

I've been writing about games in one form or another since 2012, but these days you'll find me managing GamesRadar+'s tabletop gaming and toy coverage (I spend my time here handling everything from board game reviews to the latest Lego news). I've also been obsessed with Warhammer since the 1990s, and love nothing more than running tabletop RPGs like D&D as a Dungeon Master.
