Infectiously upbeat if slightly superficial, Jes Benstock’s documentary celebrates Andrew Logan, British artist and “naughty auntie” behind the long running ‘Alternative Miss World’ show. Mounting a backstage account of 2009’s event alongside footage of Logan’s earlier alt-art hits, Benstock shakes up talking heads, animations and archive material in the anythinggoes spirit of AMW. The film doesn’t go deep on politics, but Logan’s gregarious presence provides plentiful pleasures in this heartfelt homage to a warm, wily art-world one-off.
