T is for Totoro

Totoro is the star of My Neighbour Totoro and is arguably one of the most identifiable characters in Ghibli’s canon. In the film, Totoro is invisible to everyone other than children, and takes residence in camphor trees. Taking pride and place as Ghibli’s logo, the character has become synonymous with the company. Much loved, Totoro has even found its way into other animations, notably an appearance in Toy Story 3 (below).

The latest film from Studio Ghilbli, From Up On Poppy Hill , is in cinemas now. Featuring the voice talent of Gillian Anderson, Christina Hendricks, Jamie Lee Curtis, Anton Yelchin and Aubrey Plaza and is directed by Goro Miyazaki.
