One stage, one soundtrack. It's a pretty standard set up for the fighting genre. But true to form, Nintendo has flicked two fingers at convention and revealed the My Music feature for Super Smash Bros Brawl.
Acknowledging that it has a rather awesome back catalogue of music, My Music allows players to choose the likelihood of a given song being played on each stage - check out the pic below. It means old schoolers can square off to some 8-bit era nostalgia while more recent converts have the more familiar DS tracks on offer. And with a whopping 36 musicians contributing - who have worked on projects including Chrono Trigger, NiGHTS and Streets of Rage as well as a brace of tunes from the traditional Nintendo universes - it's a massively exciting prospect. For added replay value, new songs are only unlocked by collecting CD power-ups which appear mid battle.
A new bunch ofscreenshave also appeared, showingthe new terraforming Pok%26eacute;mon 2 stadium andMario wielding a new toy from his Super Mario Sunshine days - the F.L.U.D.D. It does absolutely sod all damage, but we suspect it will be awesome for blasting foes off-screen.
Above: We're not sure if tracks are going to be stage specific, but the sliding scales used to control My Music should let you listen to as many or as few tracks as you like.
