Check out Star Wars: The Force Awakens before and after the special effects

When it comes to visual effects in movies you'd be hard pressed to find a bigger (or better) company in the business than Industrial Light & Magic, more commonly referred to as ILM. Not for nothing are they at the top of the tree, and the VFX reel for Star Wars: The Force Awakens does a pretty good job of showing why they're so highly regarded.

Check it out below...

There are some who are quick to badmouth CGI in movies, but this reel is an effective example of how, like with most things, it all comes down to execution. From the building of the trench in the Millenium Falcon chase to the crafting of Starkiller Base the level of detail in the digital work here is staggering, and this is a great peek at the spectacular amount of VFX that went into making the movie.

Directed by JJ Abrams and starring Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Adam Driver, Star Wars: The Force Awakens' 3D Collector's Edition will be out on DVD and Blu-Ray in the UK on October 31, 2016 and November 15, 2016 in the US.
