Scarlett Johansson says Ghost In The Shell begins in 2016

Scarlett Johansson has provided a quick update on Ghost In The Shell, revealing that the long-awaited remake will begin filming at the beginning of 2016.

The star was speaking with Collider, and dropped a few key details about the upcoming project's scheduling. "It’s happening," she confirmed. "It will be shooting the beginning of next year, so I think we start production January or February and it’s me and Rupert [Sanders], and that’s all I know."

The project will represent the end of a long road for DreamWorks, with the studio having been developing a live-action version of the classic manga property for six years now. Now at long last, the wheels appear to definitively be turning.

Directed by Sanders, the film is currently slated to arrive in the US on 14 April 2017. A UK date has yet to be confirmed.
