There’s been much geek debate as to just how The Wolverine will fit in with the continuity of the existing X-Men universe, and it seems that a familiar face will be dropping in to tie a few story strands together.
According to We Got This Covered , Famke Janssen has filmed a cameo role in James Mangold’s film, appearing as Wolvie’s long-standing love interest, Jean Grey.
The last time we saw Jean, she was dying in Wolverine’s arms at the end of X-Men: The Last Stand , having been overcome by the terrible power of the Phoenix. However, since The Wolverine takes place before the events of that film, it makes sense that she could appear here.
“One never knows,” said Janssen, when asked about a possible return to the series earlier this month. “Jean Grey, the Phoenix... she finds a way to reincarnate herself constantly, so one never knows. Stay tuned.”
And given that Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past is set to jump back and forth through time like nobody’s business, perhaps this won’t be the last we see of the lovely Jean. Fingers crossed…
