When Alomomola was first revealed, before the announcement that none of the Unova Pokemon would be related to Pokemonfrom previous regions, we all assumed that it was an evolution ofLuvdisc. It seemed like a pretty save assumption, too, and it's possible that some Pokemon from Black and White were originally designed as evolutions of existing Pokemon before Game Freak decided that Unova would represent a closed ecosystem.
