You might think that the latest version of Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers, which was previously known as The Visiting and seems to have been stuck in the film equivalent of purgatory since it started shooting in September 2005, had used up its quota of bad luck.
But no – just last night, the Jaguar car that star Nicole Kidman was driving – well, being towed by a camera truck – crashed when the truck in question skidded around a corner and Kidman’s car hit a pole in downtown LA.
"Nicole Kidman was in the vehicle at the time of the accident and was taken to the hospital for evaluation. She was released shortly thereafter," announced studio reps at Warner Bros to The Associated Press. She wasn’t injured, though two crewmembers sustained minor injuries. And – here’s a lesson for you, kids – everyone was wearing a seatbelt.
According to the studio’s spokesgobs, production wasn’t massively affected and Kidman was due to return to the set today. Still, it’s just another dodgy piece of press for a film already plagued with talk of problems after shifting release dates and the re-shoots currently being filmed. Fingers crossed that the film hits its planned September release date.
