The Master has released a full-length trailer online, in which Joaquin Phoenix's troubled drifter finds his path crossing with Philip Seymour Hoffman's charismatic cult leader.
The new trailer gives a more rounded sense of the film's plot, in which Phoenix's discharged army man struggles to adjust to his return to normal life. Vulnerable and erratic, he finds himself drawn to Hoffman's self-styled thinker who givers him a purpose and a place in the world.
It isn't long before the younger man has become Hoffman's second in command, although Amy Adams' disciple fears that his tendency towards violence will be the "family's" undoing.
Take a look at the new trailer, below…
We're hugely excited for this one, not only because it's Paul Thomas Anderson's first film in five years, but because the trio of central performances look utterly breathtaking. Phoenix in particular looks on the form of his career, a welcome return to proper acting after his bizarre I'm Still Here phase.
Co-starring Laura Dern and Rami Malek, The Master opens in the UK on 9 November 2012. One of the year's heaviest hitters? You'd better believe it.
