Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare beta details: check out the maps, modes, and Mission Teams coming your way

The upcoming multiplayer beta weekends for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will let you enlist with a Mission Team to earn some exclusive "prototype weapons". You'll also get to try out three of the new swappable Rigs and a handful of maps and modes, according to the new beta details that Activision and Infinity Ward laid out in a blog post.

The Mission Teams add a new persistent element to Infinite Warfare's multiplayer. Sign up with one and you'll report to a unique commander who will give you orders to carry out in standard matches. Complete these meta-objectives and you'll earn XP toward the next Mission Team rank; climbing the ranks offers aesthetic rewards like calling cards and emblems as well as the aforementioned prototype weapons. Only two Mission Teams will be included in the beta - the JTF Wolverines, who favor aggressive engagements, and the Orion Initiative, who emphasize strategy and playing the frickin' objective - but the full game will feature four.

At least three maps will be featured in the beta (Frontier, Frost, and Throwback) and four modes have been confirmed: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and the new Defender mode, which awards points to your team for grabbing and defending a drone until it resets and you do it all over again.

The first beta weekend, which will be exclusive to PS4 players, will begin on October 14 at 10 am PDT / 6 pm BST and end on October 17 at the same time. The second weekend will kick off on October 21 at 10 am PDT / 6 pm BST and conclude on October 24 at the same time. You need to pre-order Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare for guaranteed access to the beta.
