The Joker voiced by Mark Hamill in The Killing Joke movie

The prospect of Star Wars icon Mark Hamill playing The Joker again, this time in the upcoming animated adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke, has excited fans since DC announced the project at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con. Thanks to a report from Collider , we now know that Hamill will indeed be lending his unhinged portrayal of the villain to the forthcoming piece.

Hamill previously voiced The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and for the Batman: Arkham video games -- so he's well-versed in conjuring up creepy lines. And considering the source material, things are going to get even more eerie.

Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's comic is one of the most popular Batman stories ever published. It's also up there with the most depraved, tracing the Joker's origin before looping around to the present, wherein he attempts to prove to Bruce Wayne that anyone can be driven 'round the twist within 24 hours. Apparently, an abandoned theme park-turned-torture exhibit will do that to a person, especially if that person is Commissioner Gordon.
