Sony has rolled out a new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (also known as 'PSSR') update for the PS5 Pro on March 19. Unlike the recently unveiled Nvidia DLSS5, which takes games and adds what appears to be a 'yassified' filter to all the characters, this upgrade takes the likes of Silent Hill f, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and sharpens up the littlest of details to improve visual quality, and not uglify it.
I had a fantastic and terrifying time with Silent Hill f without any PSSR updates, but the little examples of its improved image clarity and Sony's boasted performance enhancements it has shown off have convinced me that it's time to upgrade to a PS5 Pro. Luckily, there are plenty of PS5 bundle deals and savings out there that take the PS5 Pro's launch £699.99 launch price down to something a bit more reasonable.
I can grab the PS5 Pro for as low as £639.99 at Argos, saving £60 that I could put towards a copy of Crimson Desert, another game that's set to get some PSSR upgrades. This seems to be the going discounted rate right now, but I have my eyes set on Very's £708 (Very) PS5 Pro saving instead. It bundles up the console and Sony's official Disc Drive, which would normally cost £769 altogether. As someone with a huge physical PS5 collection, this is exactly what I'm looking for. PSSR, here I come.
Very has bundled the PS5 Pro and the official Disc Drive for just £708. By grabbing this deal, I'd be saving £60 as opposed to grabbing the disc drive separately, while still getting access to playing my massive physical game collection.

How to enable PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution on the PS5 Pro
If you've already got a PS5 Pro and want to ensure you've got PSSR enabled to see the improvements for yourself, simply turn on your console and navigate to Settings > Screen and Video Output > Enhance PSSR Quality.
The newly improved version of PSSR doesn't start rolling out until the new PS5 system update in phases starting from March 16 at 10:00 PM Pacific Time, so it might not be available to you quite yet. Remember, not all games will take advantage of either. While Silent Hill f, Monster Hunter Wilds, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Alan Wake 2, and Control are set to use the enhanced version of the tech, games like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Cyberpunk 2077 won't be rolling it out until updates in a few weeks.

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
