The Eevee Cottage Core range by Hori undoubtedly caught my eye when it launched in October last year. The best Nintendo Switch 2 accessories are often draped in plain, all-black designs. But this set of Ninty gaming goodies is bestowed with unique Pokemon art featuring the iconic Eevee and capturing that dainty, 'cottage core' aesthetic.
Truth be told, I'm not actually the biggest Eevee fan these days. Growing up with the original Game Boy games, I was always quick to evolve mine into Flareon, as I wasn't swayed much by its cuteness as much as my school chums. That's why I was much more excited by the Hori Gengar and Mimikyu set, which stuck two of my favorite ghost-types across a similar span of Switch accessories. However, after using the Eevee Switch 2 case, controller, and game card holder for a few weeks, Hori has managed to ignite my love of the classic Pokemon.
Eevee Cottage Core 24-Game Card Case
This 24-Game Card Case is made up of transparent baby blue plastic and features adorable art of two Eevees frolicking in a sketchy illustrative art style. Despite being made of plastic, it still manages to keep that 'cottage core' aesthetic, and it's as cute as they come.
Cuteness aside, I found it pretty handy too. I often struggle with knowing which Switch 2 games I want to play next and I like to have multiple with me at any given time. My Switch 2 and older Switch games easily slid inside the individual sections and were kept securely in place, no matter where I went. The clasp on the side is pretty basic, and yet it managed to keep all my pricey games snug and secure, so I had zero issues with any dropping into the depths of my backpack.
The Eevee Cottage Core case is just $12.99 (Amazon), making it the cheapest accessory of this Hori set. Often, officially licenced accessories have a high additional cost on top, but $13 feels more than reasonable. Plus, it's even cheaper than the Dragon Ball Switch game card case that's $28.28 (Amazon) that I've had my eyes on for a while now.
Eevee Cottage Core Hori Horipad Turbo controller
The Eevee Cottage Core Horipad Turbo Switch 2 controller is my favorite item of the entire set, at least where looks are concerned. It uses the official Eevee art in the cutest possible way, featuring close-ups of the Pokemon on each grip. There's even little Poke Balls spotted about the pad for good measure.
The controller isn't new, and instead is a version of Hori's basic Horipad Turbo controller, which is available for $39.99 (Amazon) if there are no sales around. This Evee version is only $44.99 (Amazon) - you're paying a little extra for the Poke-flair.

My only issue with the pad is that Hori opted for a black cord for its wired connection, which feels a bit distracting. The entire Evee Cottage Core range is meant to make you evoke images of cream-pastel colored picnic baskets, which a big, black cord definitely does not. I'm not sure why it wasn't white for this controller release, as that would have been far less ugly.
While I'm obsessed with how it looks, it is a pretty average budget controller. It's a bit too light for my liking, which makes it feel pretty cheap, but its ergonomic design makes it comfortable to hold for many hours playing Pokemon Pokopia. It's at least got a set of super large and handy backpaddles, which I ended up remapping to the plus and minus buttons in-game to make it easier to access the map and camera shortcuts.
Eevee Cottage Core Switch 2 Puff Pouch
There are actually two cases included in the Eevee Cottage Core set, but I was only provided with the Puff Pouch from Hori to review. That was totally fine by me, as to me, it's the biggest showstopper of the entire set.
Unlike the clamshell design of the best Nintendo Switch 2 cases, Hori opted for a lightweight pouch that looks like they've taken an official Eevee blanket and transformed it into an everyday Switch 2 case. Which is pretty perfect and on-theme for this whole 'cottage core' lineup.
Inside, you can store your Switch 2, up to six physical games, and there's an accessories pouch for extras. This has become one of my favorite cases when it comes to dragging my handheld from room to room of my house, as it's super lightweight and ties into the rest of the many Pokemon items filling up my house. Personally, I wouldn't ever pop it in my backpack, however. It doesn't sport a hardshell design, it doesn't give my handheld any extra protection, and is more about its aesthetics and looking as adorable as possible.
What is "cottage core"?
'Cottage Core' is a name given to an aesthetic that evokes a romanticized view of living in the countryside. Merriam-Webster defines cottage core as "particularly inspired by nostalgic, romanticized conceptions of the English countryside or American homesteading." Think of cottages in the countryside, picnic blankets, and floral dresses in the summertime, and that's pretty much it.
Hori captures this with the dainty Eevee art and pastel cream and baby color palette that features across this accessory line-up. The designs look like something you could imagine printed on a summer dress or a picnic blanket. Honestly, going for a picnic in the countryside and pulling out a blanket that looks like the Hori Eevee Cottage Core Puff Pouch sounds like a pretty good way to spend a day.
I've also rounded up the best Nintendo Switch headsets, the best Nintendo Switch 2 microSD Express Cards, and the best Nintendo Switch 2 cameras if you're after more Ninty accessories.

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
