A player who was banned from Arc Raiders, seemingly for using an accessibility controller, has had their account reinstated. After a concerted effort to contact Embark Studios, the company finally reached out and remedied the situation, and now requests that anyone else in a similar situation make themselves known.
The person, known as ClootyBapper in-game, made a Reddit post breaking down what's gone on. In January, they received a temporary suspension ending in late February, despite never having used any kind of exploit or cheat. Attempts to raise this with the dev team across official channels were unsuccessful.
"I submitted support tickets and went to Discord for help but nothing, so I decided to just take the suspension on the chin and wait it out," the player states. After playing normally for a while post-suspension, they suddenly got the notification that they were perma-banned, for "behavior that violates our code of conduct."

With no added context, the person, who's quadriplegic and using a specific kind of controller for their needs, didn't feel much hope for change. "I really have no hope of Embark doing anything to help," they say. "I don't have much going for me and I know [there are] people out there who are probably going through worse but this fucking sucks."
As this post started gaining traction within the community, Embark eventually responded, publicly mentioning the topic and the team's push to fix it. "It's come to our attention that certain players using accessibility peripherals are getting banned in the game," the company said in a statement on Twitter.
"We are working hard on resolving this issue as soon as possible," Embark adds. "Our support team is reviewing all appeals."
ClootyBapper's account is now active again as well. "Thank you for helping me! I will pass along the sentiments to anyone I can!" they say in a final update on Reddit.
