The Arc Raiders Canto SMG was added as part of the Flashpoint update and has quickly become one of the most highly-demanded weapons, as people are curious to test out this submachine gun and see if it holds up in the meta. SMGs in Arc Raiders generally have struggled to make a proper showing (with the exception of the Stitcher), but the Canto is already making waves with hits high damage and full auto options. Below I'll explain how to get one for yourself, including where to find Canto Blueprints and how to craft it.

How to get the Canto SMG in Arc Raiders
Right now the Canto cannot be obtained in Arc Raiders unless you craft it yourself, which means you need to find the Blueprints and upgrade your Gunsmith workbench to level 3, then obtain the various components needed. It cannot be bought from any of the traders or found in-world (at least as we've seen so far), and no missions seem to offer it as a reward.
Canto blueprint location
We found the Canto Blueprint inside one of the First Wave Raider Caches during the Arc Raiders Hurricane map modifier. Specifically we found it in the Spaceport map, but others have reported finding the Canto Blueprint in any hurricane map. It didn't even take particularly long to find: I discovered it on the third Cache I checked.
Once you have the Arc Raiders blueprint for the Canto, stash it in your safe pocket. Hurricanes can be dangerous places, and you don't want to risk losing it.
How to craft the Canto
To craft a Canto SMG in Arc Raiders, you need the following components:
Crafting Component | How to get it |
|---|---|
Advanced Mechanical Components (x2) | Found in Mechanical zones, or can be crafted in Refiner Level 2. Also has a chance to be dropped by Matriarchs and Queens. |
Magnet (x5) | Sold by Celeste and salvaged from numerous items. Can also be found in Exodus zones. |
Medium Gun Parts (x3) | Found in Raider and Security zones, or can be crafted in Refiner Level 2 (requires blueprints). |
The Canto also uses Medium ammo, and tends to chew it up at a respectable rate, so make sure you have that ready to go. It also can be upgraded and fully modified, unlike its sibling weapon from the same update, the Arc Raiders Dolabra.
Is the Canto good in Arc Raiders?
The Canto is pretty powerful, fully automatic SMG that does a lot of damage per shot. It's arguably one of the deadliest submachine guns out there, but the problem is that it has a serious kickback that makes it difficult to control, so you need to either shoot in short bursts, or equip it with mods and attachments that mitigate that issue.
Ultimately though, I'd place this one fairly high on the Arc Raiders weapons tier list, especially when it comes to PvP, which it's better suited to. If you can sneak up behind somebody and press a Canto into their back, they'll probably be dead before they even have time to turn around. Still, the moderate armor penetration means it'll serve to handle mid-tier Arc threats, and it's not too difficult to craft if you're in the late game.
