Construction Simulator: Evolution trailer is all about knocking things down and building them back up again
Play the new simulation game on Steam or consoles when it launches later this year
Construction Simulator: Evolution has appeared at the Future Games Show at Gamescom with a new trailer, one that suggests it's not just about knocking things down but about what you build on the freshly leveled ground.
Our trailer takes us to the game's Amber Falls setting, which is inspired by the US Midwest. The focus, though, is a derelict building that's about to be taken down so something grander can stand in its place.
While the sight and thought of knocking old buildings down in a game does pleasingly scratch a part of my brain, our trailer's narrator is here to say it's not just about destruction.
"Every place carries a story," the narrator says, "but not every story is meant to last. Sometimes, progress means letting go. Piece by piece what once stood, comes down. Not out of destruction but out of choice. Because every new beginning needs space. We tear down to reshape the future."
It's certainly a brief I can buy into. As we see from the trailer, Construction Simulator does feature plenty of knocking things down, though that's only half of the game. Once your old building is laid low, you'll take on the manual labour to ensure that something meaningful is built on your newly found foundations.
As a pleasing little bonus, you'll get to use and control numerous licensed machines while you're at it, from CAT to Volvo, lending to the sense of a full and accurate experience.
Construction Simulator: Evolution is set to release in the fourth quarter of 2026.

I joined GamesRadar+ in May 2022 following stints at PCGamesN and PocketGamer.Biz, with some freelance for Kotaku UK, RockPaperShotgun, and VG24/7 thrown in for good measure. When I'm not running the news team on the games side, you'll find me putting News Editor duties to one side to play the hottest JRPG of 20 years ago or pillaging the depths of Final Fantasy 14 for a swanky new cloak – the more colourful, the better.
