Ok, 'recent' might be pushing it for a game that came out in 2022, but Dome Keeper is an excellent roguelike, and now it's getting a new multiplayer update, I can't wait to jump back in.
During the Future Games Show at gamescom, developer bippinbits revealed the Dome Keeper Multiplayer update, which is set to release later this year. Featuring a head-to-head versus mode that tasks you with lasting longer than your opponent, as well as a co-op mode that lets you defend your dome with up to three friends, the multiplayer update bring two completely new experiences to Dome Keeper.
If the game passed you by when it first launched, this is a great time to check it out. Living in a small biosphere on an alien planet, it's your job to defend your home against hostile monsters. To do that, rather than venturing out into the dangerous planet around you, you'll need to dig down into it, gathering up resources that can be used to upgrade your base.
If you ever played the iconic browser game Motherload, you'll be instantly familiar with how Dome Keeper plays out, with every trip back to the surface punctuated by a thrilling tower defence section. And if you're not prepared to take my word for it, take some solace in the fact that Dome Keeper has maintained excellent 92% reviews on Steam across the past three years.
There's no exact release date confirmed for Dome Keeper's multiplayer update just yet, but you'll be digging and defending alongside your friends before this year is out.
