Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 won't launch "in a half-finished state," director Naoki Hamaguchi promises
Square Enix wants to finish the trilogy properly
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy only has one game left until its grand story about climate change and fate is all wrapped up, but series director Naoki Hamaguchi has promised it won't stumble across the finish line. At least, not if he can help it.
Now that Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are on all platforms - thanks to the recent Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S ports - all eyes have turned to Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, the project's big conclusion barring any surprise expansions or spin-offs.
When speaking about the finale in an interview with Famitsu, translated by Genki, Hamaguchi vowed to release Part 3 in as solid of a condition as possible.
"We absolutely won't leave the third installment in a half-finished state," he says. "I'm determined to bring it to a point where I can proudly say, 'I've completed the 'FF7 Remake series' to the very end.' That's the determination in which we're developing it now. Please look forward to it!!"
We might not need to wait too much longer to see Cloud and Co's conclusion, either. A prominent leaker recently said Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is set to show up at tomorrow's Summer Game Fest presentation, which would make sense considering it's been two years since the last game and everyone's now had a chance to catch up on the trilogy regardless of the platform.
Hamaguchi's also been surprisingly chatty about a game that's not been formally revealed or even named. He recently stuck his tongue out and bragged about completing FF7 Remake Part 3 "over 40 times," and hinted that the original game's airship, the Highwind, will play a major role during the finale. Expect more airborne traversal than we got from the last game, then.
