Game: Persona 4
Song: Pursuing My True Self
Composer: Shihoko Hirata
Above: Pursuing My True Self from Persona 4
No your eyes don%26rsquo;t deceive you, we have done Persona 4 once already as the Game Music of the Day, but that one covered the catchy and always welcome Battle Music. Today%26rsquo;s on the other hand covers the equally catchy intro song Pursuing My True Self, which explains via phat beats a game about Japanese teens going to other dimensions during a busy year of school work.
There%26rsquo;s a lot to love about this peppy intro tune. The piano and trumpet start are counter to what you normally expect from J-pop, and that%26rsquo;s followed by a rap done in English. You may need a lyric sheet to keep up with what%26rsquo;s being sung, but it%26rsquo;s all very central to the theme of Persona 4. It mentions being %26ldquo;trapped in a maze of relationships%26rdquo; and %26ldquo;the sea of the unconscious,%26rdquo; which fits with a game about leveling up by making connections with your classmates and going through dungeons that represent the minds of confused teens.
It%26rsquo;s a perfect start to a lovely game, but you can only really appreciate the short but sweet song watching the very well animated, very yellow opening video that we leave you with. Sayonara!
