Extended Hobbit: Battle Of The Five Armies cut will show more gore

Is Peter Jackson going back to his splatter roots? That’s the question on everybody’s lips after Warner confirmed that the extended cut of The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies will be rated R in the US.

While the third part of Jackson’s return to Middle Earth was already heavy on action, it seems that the director really went for it when filming some of the combat that ended on the cutting room floor. And while it seems unlikely that we’re going to see Bad Taste levels of gore, there might be a little more crimson on show this time around.

In addition to the extra violence, there will also be the usual collection of commentaries, documentaries, bells and whistles, but be honest... you’re already wondering how many extra orcs are going to end up with axes through their skulls. We’ll find out when the extended edition goes on sale on November 17, 2015.
