Disney accused of "sequel erasure" after new Star Wars merchandise only covers the original trilogy and prequels

Star Wars fans are accusing Disney of ignoring the sequel trilogy, after a new merch release apparently ignores The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker.

A new set of Spirit Jerseys, which you can see below, come themed for each of the three prequels and each of the three original trilogy movies, with a mystery seventh jersey featuring a pattern not yet revealed. Conspicuously absent, however, are Episodes 7-9.

Naturally, fans have noticed that not every film has been included (along with the sequels, Solo and Rogue One have also been left out, though that's likely because the jerseys are sticking to the mainline releases of the saga).

"Sequel erasure is crazy," says one fan in the replies, while another says: "no sequels? definitely skipping this"

"I want some sequel trilogy ones" says someone else. "Maybe if there were 3 more movies you coincidentally forgot then I'd consider it," points out another person. "Six episodes? No sequels?" questions another account. "Hey so the sequels exist" says another person.

"Damn… I'd consider buying the box if the sequels were included in the line-up," says another fan.

However, not everyone is upset about the final three episodes being left out, as a quick scroll through the replies and quote tweets will show you.

Next up for Star Wars is The Mandalorian and Grogu, though director Jon Favreau has teased that it's Ahsoka season 2 that will be helping to bridge the gap between the original trilogies and the sequel trilogy.

"Anybody who saw the sequels knows that there's a First Order coming in, like, 20 years from where we are now in the storyline," he commented. "And then Ahsoka season 2 is coming out – which I've seen all of – and that's definitely more dealing with the larger [picture], a higher level," he told SFX magazine. "That's about the officers and we're the enlisted men – this is more of a ground-level experience of what's going on. You're seeing the backdrop – which, by the way, is what the first Star Wars started off as."
