Marvel has confirmed when Daredevil: Born Again season 2 takes place on the MCU timeline – and now we're even more curious about that "team-up" between Wilson Fisk and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
So, according to the brand's official website, the Disney Plus show's latest batch of episodes, which we've already been told plays out around six months after season 1, is set post-Thunderbolts*. Now, Val, as Julia Louis-Dreyfus's version likes to be called, has always skewed more towards the skeevier side of the morally ambiguous spectrum –pulling strings behind the scenes to ensure personal gain in any scenario.
But after the titular team saved New York City from Bob's deadly alter-ego The Void at the end of Thunderbolts*, we could've been fooled into thinking she'd mellowed out a bit. Or at the very least, been placed firmly under the thumb of Yelena (Florence Pugh) and the rest of the New Avengers. Who could forget the line, 'We own you now'?
Nope, apparently the newly-appointed director of the CIA is still up to her old tricks, as it was revealed that fixer Mr. Charles (Matthew Lillard) works for Val in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 1. Later, too, Val called Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) up and essentially gave him the service's blessing to form his Anti-Vigilante Task Force. She's clearly plotting something, we'll just have to stay tuned to find out what.
"For me, personally, away from everything MCU, I would love her to be part of our world," showrunner Dario Scardapane previously teased in an interview with MovieWeb. "There's a story in the back of my head I would love to tell you, but I don't know, those choices aren't mine."
There's a chance she could play a part in Kingpin inviting some anti-heroes into his own version of a Thunderbolts team, with the show lifting elements from the comics. But with seven episodes still to go, it's anyone's guess.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is currently airing Tuesday evenings in the US, and Wednesday mornings in the UK.
