Yakuza writer Masayoshi Yokoyama has heard Jack Black wants to star in a live-action adaptation of the hit game series, and he wants to help.
Yokoyama has written on multiple Yakuza games and has been a producer since Yakuza 5, and he's been the head of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio since 2021.
"I can't think of any role at all, and I don't even know their contact info, but maybe I should reach out (lol)," said Yokoyama on Twitter (via the platform's translation).
Article continues belowBlack has already starred in multiple video game adaptations, including A Minecraft Movie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, its sequel The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and the Borderlands movie.
"So I'm going to throw my hat in that ring," Black said recently of his hopes to appear in a Yakuza project. "I don't know if there [are] any parts for me, like a portly American, but talk to me. Sega, give me a jingle."
Now, as much as we would love to see this crossover, there don't appear to be any actual plans for a live-action Yakuza starring Black at the moment. Here's hoping it happens someday.
In the meantime, though, you can hear Black's vocal talents in the The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which sees him reprise his role as Bowser. The film has debuted to a lukewarm reception from critics, with our own The Super Mario Galaxy Movie review reading: "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie surpasses the original thanks to relentless energy and creativity, but its starry-eyed ambitions fizzle out thanks to the bizarre treatment of Brie Larson's Rosalina and an undercooked story."
