Emily Blunt could be Black Widow

While nothing is yet official, word is that Jon Favreau is close to casting Emily Blunt as Russian super spy Natasha Romanoff, AKA Black Widow.

If the casting pans out, Blunt – best known for My Summer Of Love and The Devil Wears Prada – will be donning a skin-tight black outfit bristling with weaponry.

Sex appeal

Looks like Favreau is aiming to up the sex appeal even further this time – and the idea of Blunt playing Black Widow would definitely fit the bill.

First appearing in the Marvel universe in 1964’s Tales Of Suspense, Romanoff originally donned her costume in 1970. She’s since alternated between being a nemesis for the various Marvel heroes (such as Spider-Man) and being an ally.

Chances are she’ll end up as a bit of both for Tony Stark, depending on how Favreau and writer Justin Theroux script her.

If she signs, she'll be joining a cast that already includes Robert Downey Jr, Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke, and they start shooting in a couple of months.
